Shining a Spotlight: "The Light Within: An Irish Quaker Story"

This past weekend, I was delighted to attend the unveiling of a very special film that is bound to leave a lasting impression.

I had the distinct pleasure as The Communications Coach to assist in the publicity and promotion of the gorgeous short Film; "The Light Within: An Irish Quaker Story".

A Supernatural Journey Unveiled

"The Light Within: An Irish Quaker Story" is a cinematic gem that takes audiences on a supernatural journey back to Queen's County in the year 1780. The film's gripping narrative centres around Lydia, a brave teenager who must defy her Quaker upbringing to save her ailing younger sister. With the captivating performances of talented newcomers Finnuala Gillen and Eliza Rae Butler, alongside the seasoned artistry of Steve Gunn and an exceptional ensemble cast, this film has been aptly described by Arthur Lappin as "delightfully subtle in the storytelling and beautiful to behold."

Behind the Scenes: The Creative Minds

This cinematic beauty was brought to life through the vision of Denis McArdle, who both wrote and directed the film. The accomplished David Butler, as the producer for Songway Films, ensured that every frame captured the essence of this unique narrative.

Support from the Community

"The Light Within: An Irish Quaker Story" received vital support from the Laois Arts Film Bursary, a testament to the film's cultural and artistic significance. This remarkable project was also made possible through the unwavering support of Creative Ireland and Laois County Council. The setting for the much-anticipated screening was Dunamaise Arts Centre in Portlaoise.

Publicity

For me, it was a humbling experience to see my own name in the credits, having played a small part in getting word out about the film’s launch. For artists, the publicity part of any venture can be a real challenge.

Understanding how to capture the attention of your audience in this attention economy and encourage the press to pick up on your work is an art in itself. In this social media era knowing how to cut through the noise and get your voice heard is an asset not to be dismissed.

Depending on the scale of the project it may warrant a full publicity campaign but this is not always the case. Knowing the difference can save you a substantial amount of money.

This is where working with an experienced media professional is in my opinion worth its weight in gold. Frequently when you are ready to launch your creation you have worked on it for a prolonged period of time. You may be exhausted and at times frustrated.

So here are my words of advice:

  1. The work is not done until you have completed the marketing or publicity campaign.

  2. Build publicity into your timeline.

  3. Get advice from an experienced professional who can give you objective opinions and a structured approach.

  4. Learn how to Cut Through the Noise

All of these services are available through The Communications Coach send me an email today to see how I can help you Cut Through the Noise.
